  • Language translation and AI tech business TransPerfect has acquired the France-based studios of The Mill and MPC, two global VFX brands that were owned by parent Technicolor, which abruptly shut down in February amid financial difficulties.

TransPerfect, a New York-based translation and business services company, has acquired the French operations of MPC and The Mill, two visual effects and creative studios, from Technicolor Creative Studios. This acquisition comes as part of Technicolor's broader strategy to restructure its business through a court-supervised process in France, aiming to address financial challenges and focus on its core operations. The sale to TransPerfect was part of a larger deal where Technicolor sold off various assets to different buyers, including MPC Film and Episodic to Company 3/Method, and Mikros Animation to a consortium led by its management. This move allows Technicolor to streamline its operations and reduce its debt, while TransPerfect expands its footprint in the creative services sector.
