  • The decision follows recommendations from the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), an investigation arm of the commerce ministry, to impose the duty on 'Trichloro isocyanuric acid'.

India has imposed an anti-dumping duty on a water treatment chemical, Aniline, imported from China and Japan to protect domestic manufacturers from cheap imports. This decision follows a recommendation by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) after an investigation confirmed that these imports were being dumped at below fair market value, causing material injury to the domestic industry. The duty, which varies between USD 37.76 per tonne and USD 126.90 per tonne depending on the exporter, aims to ensure fair trade practices and level the playing field for Indian producers. This measure will be in place for a period of five years unless revised or revoked earlier.
