  • Riyadh Metro will open its Red and Green lines as it continues to transform transport in the Saudi capital. The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) announced the roll-out of two additional lines (Red: King Abdullah Road, and Green: King Abdulaziz Road) of the Riyadh Metro on December 15, 2024.

The article from Arabian Business reports that the Riyadh Metro will commence operations on its Red and Green lines starting Sunday, December 15. This development is part of a broader initiative to enhance public transportation in Riyadh, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality. The Red Line will connect the north and south of the city, while the Green Line will link the east and west. The metro system, which is part of a $22.5 billion project, is expected to serve over 3.6 million residents by 2030. The opening of these lines marks a significant step towards the completion of the entire six-line network, which includes plans for Blue, Yellow, Orange, and Purple lines. The project not only aims to transform urban mobility but also to support Riyadh's Vision 2030 by promoting sustainable transport solutions.
