18th Annual Prudential Global Volunteer Day

NEWARK, N.J.--([ ])--On Saturday, October 6, more than 20,000 Prudential employees and their families and friends will participate in the companyas 18th Global Volunteer Day by donating their time and talent to projects at community service organizations serving people all over the world.

When Prudential introduced Global Volunteer Day in 1995 to celebrate and encourage volunteerism, more than 5,000 employees and their families and friends worked on 100 volunteer projects in the United States and Japan. Last year, more than 28,000 people around the world participated in 750 Global Volunteer Day projects in the United States and 10 other countries.

Projects conducted on Prudential Global Volunteer Day include beautifying local parks, cleaning up school playgrounds, building homes, preparing food for the needy, mentoring children, and many other activities.

In addition, Global Volunteer Day projects that meet certain criteria are eligible to receive $1,000 Challenge Grants for the nonprofit organizations. Since its inception in 1996, the Global Volunteer Day Challenge Grant Program has provided more than $2.6 million to community organizations.
