SDL to Publish US Presidential Election Swing State Social Media Report
Weekly Tracking Poll to Detail Candidate Sentiment and Share of Voice on Key Issues
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON--(Marketwire - Sept. 14, 2012) -[ SDL ] (LSE:SDL), the leader in Global Information Management is publishing a weekly report beginning next Tuesday September 18th that will monitor online discussions in key states for the 2012 Presidential Election. The SDL Presidential Election Social Media Report will track social media postings each week in Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, Wisconsin and Colorado, covering sentiment for each candidate in those states, as well as share of voice for a number of pertinent campaign topics.
The economy, the deficit and 'Obamacare' are issues Romney and the Republicans will be pushing, while Medicare, abortion rights, foreign policy and supporting the middle class are topics Obama and the Democrats will be pursuing. The SDL Presidential Election Social Media Report has been created on the supposition that the election will be decided in just a handful of key states and on these few key topics. The candidate who stimulates the most positive debate and sentiment around their topics and is the most likeable is more likely to win the election.
The weekly monitor will cover postings in leading social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as comments in leading political blogs and websites. SDL believes week-by-week shifts in candidate sentiment and issue share of voice can provide early indications of changes in voter opinions in advance of the November 6th election. For example, the weekly reports can show whether a new in-state ad campaign is resonating, whose bus tour is connecting with the voters or which side gained the most points in the four October debates.
SDL will provide weekly updates of its Presidential Election Social Media Report every Tuesday until Election Day. Outlets that would like to receive a copy of the free report should contact Mallory Townsend at [ matownsend@sdl.com ]. A complete history of all weekly reports can be viewed on the SDL [ Social Intelligence ] website later this month.
