VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Aug. 22, 2012) - Zena Mining Corp. (TSX VENTURE:ZCC) ("Zena" or the "Company") has prepared this News release to clarify certain information included in News releases issued on February 22, 2011 and December 5, 2011.
The aforementioned News releases reported a barite measured resource of 5,800 tonnes and an inferred resource showing a typo of 10,000 tonnes, with average grades above or near the specific gravity threshold of 4.10. The correct inferred resource should have been 4,340 tonnes, as was reported in several news releases prior to December 5, 2011.
A NI 43-101 compliant report prepared for the Company by Godfrey Walton, P. Geo., dated October 24, 2003, was the basis for these News releases, and reported a measured resource of 5,800 tonnes with specific gravity of 4.25 and an inferred resource 4,340 tonnes averaging specific gravity of 3.93 in the "A" zone at the Lapin Barite property near Rock Creek, B.C.
The Company's is currently undertaking its 2012 exploration program, with a cost budget to be approximately the same as the 2011 program, including the stripping of the northern limits of the Barite lenses in the "B" zone, with the possibility of producing a larger test sample. The exploration program may also include further review of the "A" zone. The field work portion of the program has been completed and the Company is awaiting the results of the program.
The Company also reports that it is preparing a new Mineral and Coal Exploration Notice of Work Application ("NOW") for submission to the Ministry of Energy and Mines for approval. The Company will not undertake further field work until the NOW is approved.
This press release has been reviewed by Barry J. Price, M.Sc., P.Geo., an independent consultant based in Vancouver BC. Mr. Price supervised the exploration and sampling program in 2010 and the stripping and sampling program in 2011.
