PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lincoln Financial Network, the retail distribution division of Lincoln Financial Group (NYSE: [ LNC ]), today announced James S. Smith, President of James S. Smith Financial, has been named #1 Agency with Lincoln Financial Network's General Agency (GA) distribution channel, based on 2011 production.

This recognition is given annually to the leader in production within each of Lincoln Financial Network's distribution channels. This year marks Smith's third year receiving the award, which was presented by John Thomas, Head of the GA channel.

"James has been an incredible asset to our organization and Lincoln Financial Network as a whole," said Thomas. "His hard work and commitment over the years have earned him this recognition."

A forty-three year industry veteran, Smith began working as an agent in the insurance and securities business. After five years as an agent, Smith moved into the home office of Maccabees Mutual Life Insurance Company where he served in various sales, marketing, and product design positions over the next twenty-four years, the last five as Chief Marketing Officer. In 1994, Smith joined Chubb Life in Concord, NH and led the New England region of Chubb Life/Jefferson Pilot Financial as Field Vice President. In 2006, Smith left the company as an employee and began operating his own agency, located in Tellico Village of Loudon, TN, with Lincoln as his primary company.

Smith is a registered representative with Lincoln Financial Securities Corporation and holds the professional designations of Chartered Life Underwriter and Registered Health Underwriter, as well as his Series 26, 6, 63, and 1.
