NEW YORK, Aug. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cohen & Steers, Inc. (NYSE: [ CNS ]) filed a shelf registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission today to register an aggregate of 22,000,000 shares of common stock that may be offered and sold from time to time by the company and selling stockholders.  The registration statement was filed to replace the company's existing shelf registration statement, which is scheduled to expire later this year.  Neither the company nor any selling stockholders have any immediate plans to sell any shares under the registration statement.
