PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwire - Aug 6, 2012) - Capital Pacific Bancorp (
"We are privileged to have a banker of Ron's background, insight and experience on our board," said Mark Stevenson, president and chief executive officer, Capital Pacific Bancorp. "His advice and counsel continue to make a significant impact on the success of our bank. It is noteworthy that Ron's four decades of achievements garner great admiration from his fellow bankers, who nominated and endorsed him for this very high honor."
May served in the U.S. Army as a captain before beginning his banking career in 1970 with First National Bank of Oregon. There, and then later at First Interstate Bank, he held many positions over 26 years. After May left First Interstate Bank where he last served as senior vice president for consumer loan services, he spent eight years in Stockton, California where he served as executive vice president of consumer banking for Union Safe Deposit Bank. He then returned to Oregon to work for 30 months as president and chief executive officer of Pinnacle Bank of Beaverton before retiring.
In addition to his past involvement as a member of the OBA board of directors, May has been actively involved in many community organizations, including the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Oregon State University Family Business Program Advisory Board, Northeast Community Development Corporation Board, First Interstate Development Corporation Board and the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors where he served as President in 2002-03. He also chaired the Humphreys College Board of Trustees while in Stockton. Currently, he serves on the Aviation Advisory Committee for Pearson Field in Vancouver, Wash. May grew up in the Beaverton area and attended Oregon State University and Stanford University. He and his wife, Janet, have two children.
The OBA's Hall of Fame was created in 1987 to recognize outstanding contributions to the Oregon banking community and communities where bankers live and work.
