ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, Md., Sept. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing its expansion northward, Astrum Solar – the leading full-service residential solar provider in the eastern United States– today announced that it has opened an office in Hopkinton, Mass. The new office, located less than an hour from Boston, will serve residents throughout Massachusetts and in the neighboring states of Connecticut and Rhode Island who are looking for more sustainable, cost-efficient energy solutions.

The company, headquartered in Annapolis Junction, Md., initially began selling solar systems in Massachusetts in May 2011 and officially opened its office this month to better serve the area's growing customer base. The new office is expected to employ 20 to 25 people in the fields of engineering, sales, installation and project management and will continue to grow as customer demand increases.

"Massachusetts is leading the clean energy revolution, and thanks to companies like Astrum Solar, our residents are benefiting from new jobs and opportunities in this sector," said Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. "Solar energy is a vital part of our efforts to build a green economy, and we are proud to welcome Astrum Solar to Massachusetts."

Astrum Solar has served customers in a dozen states throughout the eastern United States and recently began offering solar leasing in six states with Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG). "Leasing Powered by Constellation Energy" provides consumers interested in converting to solar more financing flexibility in how they transition from traditional energy consumers to clean energy producers. The company currently is offering an introductory promotion where customers who lease solar systems before Oct. 1 receive a cash incentive up to $2,000 to cover the first two years of the lease. To further mark its arrival in Mass., Astrum Solar is the national sponsor of the upcoming Massachusetts Solar & Wind Expo, Nov. 4Nov. 6.

"Massachusetts residents have demonstrated a strong interest in converting to solar power, driving demand for our offerings and providing the opportunity to expand our operations within the state," said Vadim Polikov, Astrum Solar's president and chief executive officer. "With an average of about 200 days of sunshine each year, Massachusetts and its neighboring states are ideal locations for people looking to transition from traditional energy to residential solar."
