COLUMBUS, Ga.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Synovus (NYSE: SNV), the Columbus, Georgia-based financial services company, and its affiliate banks, Columbus Bank and Trust Company and CB&T of East Alabama, recently completed two community projects to help promote financial education among area students and collect clothing for children in need. These projects were part of Synovusa™ community outreach effort called REACH: Recognizing and Encouraging an Atmosphere of Community and of Hope.

"The success of these programs reflects the commitment our team members have for the well-being of citizens in our communities"

Synovus and CB&T team members visited more than 2,900 K-5 students in Muscogee, Russell and Lee County schools to lead the aTeach Children to Savea program. The program is sponsored by the American Bankers Association Education Foundation, and was launched in 1997 to raise awareness about the important role banks and bankers play in helping young people develop lifelong savings habits.

Team members also collected approximately 2,000 pieces of clothing to benefit the Sara Spano Clothing Bank, which serves disadvantaged children in Muscogee County by providing a school wardrobe of new and gently worn items.

aThe success of these programs reflects the commitment our team members have for the well-being of citizens in our communities,a said Richard Anthony, Synovus Chairman and CEO. aAs part of this REACH initiative, we want to help future consumers be better equipped to make smart decisions as they mature into responsible adults. The clothing drive contributes to the building of confidence in an important group within our community. We want to do whatever we can to support families, schools, and community groups as they help these valuable children develop into successful adults.a
