VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 7, 2009) - San Marco (TSX VENTURE:SMN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brent Hendrickson as Vice President of Exploration.

Mr. Hendrickson's 25 year career as a mining exploration geologist began subsequent to his graduation from South Dakota School of Mines with a M.Sc. in Geology. His thesis fieldwork was done in Brazil at the Universidade Federal da Bahia. He received his B.Sc. in Geology from the Institute of Technology at the University of Minnesota.

Early in his career, Mr. Hendrickson worked on gold exploration projects in the Black Hills, South Dakota for Cyprus, St. Joe Minerals and Noranda. He also worked for E.K. Lehman and Associates and Amax Gold in Montana. Eventually, Mr. Hendrickson was drawn to Nevada where he was engaged in gold exploration for Battle Mountain Gold, U.S. Borax, and subsequently Kennecott. In 1990 Mr. Hendrickson began working solely as a consultant geologist focused in Nevada, Mexico, and Central America. During this period, Mr. Hendrickson became proficient in digitally integrating exploration data using GIS as a key tool for guiding his exploration. Over the next 10 years Mr. Hendrickson's clients included Independence Mining (now AngloGold-Ashanti), Cyprus, Western Mining Corp, Homestake Mining Company and MK Gold where projects were located in Nevada, California, Arizona, Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Guyana.

Over the next few years his activities included assisting companies such as Aurelian in Ecuador, (Fruta Del Norte) Hecla's exploration efforts in Venezuela, Aquiline in Argentina, Absolut in Peru, and Northern Peru Copper in Peru. Several of these companies achieved exploration success with discoveries of significant ore deposits.

Mr. Hendrickson is fluent in Spanish and will be based in Guadalajara, Mexico, where the majority of San Marco's activities currently exist.

Chairman Robert Willis commented; "Brent's experience in a great variety of geological environments will certainly give San Marco shareholders an advantage towards recognition of mineral properties that have potential for a major discovery; his database is second to none. We welcome Brent to the San Marco team and look forward to adding valuable assets to our mineral property portfolio."
