  • A hacker involved in exploiting decentralized finance lending protocol Voltage Finance in 2022 has moved some of the stolen Ether to Tornado Cash, CertiK says.

On October 11, 2023, a hacker involved in the 2022 Voltage Finance exploit, which resulted in the theft of approximately $1.7 million in Ethereum (ETH), moved 700 ETH, valued at around $1.2 million at the time, to the cryptocurrency mixing service Tornado Cash. This move was detected by blockchain security firm PeckShield, which noted that the funds were part of the original exploit where the hacker manipulated the price of Voltage Finance's vGov token to drain the liquidity pool. The transfer to Tornado Cash, a platform known for enhancing transaction privacy, suggests an attempt to obscure the trail of the stolen funds, complicating efforts to trace and recover them.
