Volkswagen is in talks with digital cockpit system developer Ecarx to put the Chinese company's technologies in cars it sells in developed markets, such as Europe and United States, Ecarx's CEO said on Wednesday.

Ecarx, a Chinese automotive technology company, is in discussions with Volkswagen (VW) to develop smart car technologies for the European and U.S. markets, according to Ecarx's CEO Ziyu Shen. The talks aim to leverage Ecarx's expertise in infotainment systems, digital cockpits, and driver assistance systems to enhance VW's offerings in these regions. This collaboration could potentially help VW to catch up in the rapidly evolving smart car sector, where software-defined vehicles are becoming increasingly crucial. The partnership would not only focus on integrating advanced technology into VW's vehicles but also on adapting these technologies to meet the regulatory and consumer expectations of the European and U.S. markets.
