  • 125m, according to figures revealed today by the British Business Bank's Small Business Finance Markets report 2024/25.

The British Business Bank has reported a significant increase in equity investment value for small businesses in the East Midlands, with the total value of deals reaching £127 million in 2022, up from £100 million the previous year. This growth reflects a broader trend of rising equity investments across the UK, although the number of deals in the East Midlands decreased from 110 to 90. The report highlights that the East Midlands has seen a 27% increase in investment value, which is part of a national trend where equity deals have grown by 11% in value. This surge in investment is attributed to a strong appetite for high-growth companies, particularly in sectors like technology, health, and life sciences. The British Business Bank's initiatives, such as the Midlands Engine Investment Fund, have played a crucial role in supporting this growth by providing finance to small businesses that might otherwise struggle to secure funding.
