The Trump transition team has vetted at least half a dozen potential candidates to run the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, with two front-runners emerging.

The cryptocurrency industry is currently in a state of anticipation as the term of Rostin Behnam, the current Chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), is set to end in June 2024. Behnam, who has been a proponent of regulating digital assets, has not been reappointed by President Joe Biden, leading to speculation about his replacement. The crypto sector is particularly interested in who former President Donald Trump might nominate if he wins the upcoming election, given his past comments on cryptocurrency. Potential candidates include Trump's former CFTC commissioners like Brian Quintenz and Dawn Stump, or even figures like Chris Giancarlo, known as "CryptoDad" for his supportive stance on digital currencies.
