  • Former German finance minister Christian Lindner was pelted with foam by a protester during a campaign appearance for his pro-business liberal Free Democrats (FDP) on Thursday. Lindner was hit in the face by what appeared to be a pie made from shaving foam,

At a campaign event in the German town of Ahlen, former Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble was targeted with a shaving cream attack by a 47-year-old man. The incident occurred as Schäuble, who has been a prominent figure in German politics for decades and currently serves as the president of the German parliament, was speaking at a CDU (Christian Democratic Union) event. The assailant, who was apprehended by security, reportedly acted out of frustration with Schäuble's political decisions, particularly his role in the Greek financial crisis. Schäuble, who was not injured, continued his speech after the disruption, emphasizing the importance of democratic debate over violence. The attacker now faces charges of disturbing the peace and assault.
