The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced on January 9, 2024, that its investments are expected to reach a record high of 13.6 billion euros ($14.9 billion) in 2024, up from 12.2 billion euros in 2023. This increase is part of a broader two-year investment plan totaling 16.6 billion euros for 2024-2025, aimed at supporting Ukraine and other regions amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions. The EBRD's strategy includes a significant focus on Ukraine, where it plans to invest 7.5 billion euros over the next two years, with 1.5 billion euros specifically allocated for 2024 to aid in the country's reconstruction efforts following the war with Russia.
