Tue, November 26, 2024 UWL names new fieldhouse in honor of former chief business officer
- The relatively new fieldhouse on the UW La Crosse campus now has the name of one of the University's influential leaders.
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL) has named its new fieldhouse in honor of Kent “Spike” Smith, the former Chief Business Officer who passed away in 2023. The facility, now called the Kent “Spike” Smith Fieldhouse, was dedicated in a ceremony attended by Smith's family, friends, and university officials. Smith was recognized for his significant contributions to the university, including his role in the development of the fieldhouse project. The fieldhouse, part of a $100 million recreation and wellness project, features a 200-meter track, a multi-sport court, and a turf field, enhancing the athletic and recreational facilities available to students and the community.
