Two Officers Promoted by South Jersey Industries and South Jersey Gas Boards

FOLSOM, N.J.--([ ])--Edward J. Graham, chairman, president, and CEO of South Jersey Industries (NYSE: SJI), announced the election of Jeffrey E. DuBois as president and COO of South Jersey Gas and the election of Gina Merritt-Epps as general counsel and corporate secretary of SJI and South Jersey Gas. These promotions were effective April 20, 2012.

As president and COO, DuBois will provide leadership to ensure SJG remains at the forefront of the energy industry as a world class utility. He also will ensure that SJGas strategic plan advances the companyas mission and objectives to safely and reliably serve customers and that SJG continues as a significant contributor to SJIas future earnings growth.

Merritt-Epps will provide legal advice to senior management, the board of directors and all business operational staff; review contracts and other business documents; manage litigation and regulatory claims and related legal costs. She will also coordinate regular and annual board and committee meetings, oversee the preservation of corporate records, prepare corporate documentation, and maintain necessary filings and licenses with regulatory authorities.

aJeffas extensive energy industry and corporate expertise combined with his demonstrated leadership abilities, strategic thinking and strong analytical and management skills make him an excellent candidate for his new position. Ginaas extensive legal and corporate governance knowledge in addition to her unquestioned integrity, excellent judgment, leadership, decision making and risk mitigation skills make her a perfect fit for this position. DuBois joined SJG in 1987. He has a bacheloras degree in industrial technology from Rowan University. He lives in Millville, NJ with his wife, MaryBeth.

Merritt-Epps joined SJI in 2006. She has a bacheloras degree in Political Science from Pennsylvania State University and a Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law. She lives in Galloway with her husband Michael and daughter Taylor.
