Yadkin Valley Financial Corporation Files S-1 Registration Statement for Resale of Treasury Preferred Stock

ELKIN, NC--(Marketwire - Apr 12, 2012) - Yadkin Valley Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: [ YAVY ]) filed a Form S-1 Registration Statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission on April 12, 2012.

This Form S-1 is a resale registration statement for the Company's preferred shares held by Treasury under the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). There is currently not a specific plan for the shares to be sold. However, Treasury has recently begun the process of auctioning TARP preferred shares from other companies to public investors. Therefore, the Company believes it is prudent to register the potential resale of these shares at this time. Although, there is no assurance that the Company's TARP preferred shares will be included in any auction by Treasury or that they will be sold to one or more investors, filing of this registration statement enables that the Company is ready for such an event.

"We are filing at this time given the current activity we've seen from Treasury regarding TARP shares. This allows us to be ready should an opportunity be made available to us," said Joe Towell, Yadkin Valley's President and Chief Executive Officer.
