FREEHOLD, NJ--(Marketwire - Apr 11, 2012) - United Health Products, Inc. (
The new touch-screen tablets will be free to access and will generate revenue via local advertising. People will be able to use the kiosks/tablets to get information on local restaurants, nearby stores, tourist attractions, and traffic updates. The booths will also provide access to NYC's 311 complaint and information line. And it will offer safety alerts. All of this will be available in multiple languages.
Eventually, users will also be able to access popular applications like Skype, which allows people to make phone calls over the Internet. And they'll be able to log on to e-mail accounts from the "smart screen" booths. The city also plans on turning the booths into Wi-Fi hot spots, which will provide wireless Internet access to other devices.
In an earlier pilot program, smart screens were installed during the past few years in places like Citi Field and the dormitories of New York University, according to Tom Touchet, the chief executive of City24/7 LLC.
Dr. Phillip Forman, United's CEO, said, "While United is now focused on technologies for the healthcare sector, City 24/7 was one of the Company's earlier investments and the Company is proud that the City of New York has recognized the potential of the services and revenues streams to be derived from the installation of City 24/7's products in the City."
