More than 1,000 Line and Service Crews Working Until Restoration Complete

MORRISTOWN, N.J., Nov. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) is on track to restore power by midnight tonight to any of its customers who remain without power after last week's historic snowstorm.  As of 4 p.m., about 1,200 customers remained without service.

Customers who do not have power by 9 p.m. are asked to notify the company by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).

"We have a solid plan in place and the necessary resources in place to get the lights back on by midnight," said Don Lynch, President, JCP&L.  "This is the largest storm restoration effort in our company's history and we have brought in every available resource from within FirstEnergy and from outside companies to get the job done."

More than 1,000 line and service crews from JCP&L, sister FirstEnergy operating utilities, outside utilities and contractors are in the field today restoring customers.  All the remaining outage orders have been assigned to these crews.  A total of 5,700 individuals are working today in JCP&L service territory to complete repairs.

Crews may continue to make repairs on some single-service customers or isolated locations into the overnight hours.  They will keep working until all jobs are completed.

JCP&L had restored power by Thursday midnight to more than 95 percent of customers who lost power in the storm.  Many of the remaining outages are labor-intensive, requiring lots of time and resources to restore power to a relatively small number of customers.

JCP&L serves 1.1 million customers in 13 counties in New Jersey.
