Sallie Mae Appoints Jonathan Clark Chief Financial Officer

RESTON, Va.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--SLM Corporation (NYSE: SLM), commonly known as Sallie Mae, announced today that it has appointed Jonathan C. Clark Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. In this role, he will be responsible for the companya™s corporate finance, accounting, financial planning and analysis, and corporate development divisions.

Most recently, Mr. Clark served as Sallie Maea™s Executive Vice President and Treasurer. Under his leadership, the company successfully navigated the challenging capital markets during the recent global financial crisis.

Mr. Clark joined Sallie Mae in 2008 as Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance from Credit Suisse, where he built one of the premier finance teams serving the student loan industry. Previously, he held positions at Prudential Securities, First Boston, Dean Witter and Hewlett-Packard. Mr. Clarkearned degrees from the University of Virginia and Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
