Dreyfus High Yield Strategies Fund Announces Portfolio Manager Appointments
NEW YORK--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--On October 28, 2010, at a meeting of the Board of Trustees of Dreyfus High Yield Strategies Fund (NYSE: DHF), the Board approved the appointment of Chris Barris as co-primary portfolio manager for the Fund. Mr. Barris will co-manage the Fund with Karen Bater, the Funda™s current portfolio manager. Dean Graves and Stephen Sylvester were also appointed as additional portfolio managers for the Fund. The Dreyfus Corporation (aDreyfusa) continues to be the investment adviser for the Fund.
Mr. Barris has been a portfolio manager of the Fund and employed by Dreyfus since July 2007. He is the High Yield Sector Strategist of High Yield portfolios at Standish Mellon Asset Management Company LLC (aStandisha), an affiliate of Dreyfus, and Senior Analyst for Corporate Bonds, responsible for coverage of gaming, lodging and the autos sectors. He joined Standish in 2005. Mr. Barris has an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and a B.A. from Hamilton College.
Mr. Graves has been employed by Dreyfus since October 2010. He is a Senior Global Credit Analyst at Standish responsible for research and analysis of the following industries: energy, chemicals, metals/mining and utilities. He joined Standish in 2009 from Grandview Capital Management, where he worked for six years as portfolio manager, analyst and trader for high yield, term loan and mezzanine investments. Mr. Graves has an M.B.A. in Finance from University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business, and a B.S. in Business Administration from University of Vermont, holds the CFA® designation, and has 18 years of investment experience.
Mr. Sylvester has been employed by Dreyfus since October 2010. He is a Senior Global Credit Analyst at Standish responsible for research and analysis of the following industries: consumer products, food and beverage, building products and retail. He joined Standish in 2009 from Deutsche Asset Management, where he worked for seven years, serving as a senior analyst on the global high yield team. Prior to that, he worked for Delaware Investments as a high yield analyst. Stephen has an M.S. in Economics from London School of Economics and Political Science, a B.A. from Hamilton College, and has 16 years of investment experience.
