NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - October 9, 2009) - E1 Music announces the release of "Richard Petty's Audio Scrapbook," the first-ever audio autobiography licensed by the sport of NASCAR. Known as "The King," Petty is widely regarded as the greatest NASCAR driver of all time, winning the sport's championship seven times as well as a record 200 races.

"Richard Petty's Audio Scrapbook" is a virtual time capsule into stock car racing's colorful past. The four-hour, four-CD audio book spans Petty's life from when he was a child watching his father race, to becoming a great champion, to the untimely death of grandson Adam Petty. Petty sits down with Hall of Fame announcer Barney Hall, the lead announcer for MRN's broadcasts, to share numerous anecdotes of his legendary career and the sport of NASCAR, from the early days of bootleggers running on dirt tracks to the modern era of super speedways.

Insightful commentary is offered in "Richard Petty's Audio Scrapbook" from Petty's longtime crew chief, Dale Inman, as well as from high school sweetheart and wife of more than 50 years Lynda. Racing rivals Junior Johnson, Bobby Allison and David Pearson also share personal memories of their years in the sport and competitive brushes on the track with The King. Included in the audio book are race calls from some of Petty's most memorable moments -- including the dramatic finish of the 1976 Daytona 500, and his horrifying crash in the 1988 Firecracker 400.

The consummate race driver and sports hero, Petty is respected by both competitors and fans for his demeanor on and off the track and is one of the most recognizable sports figures in the world. Petty remains entrenched in NASCAR with his Richard Petty Motorsports team, based in Statesville, N.C.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this audio book will go to the Victory Junction Gang Camp in honor of Petty's grandson, Adam Petty. The mission of Victory Junction is to enrich the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun, and empowering, in a safe and medically-sound environment. Petty has worked closely with this charity since its inception in 2004.

"Richard Petty's Audio Scrapbook" is co-produced by Detroit author Gordon Miller, who also published the critically acclaimed "Ernie Harwell's Audio Scrapbook," which to date has sold more than 25,000 copies.
