VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - March 9, 2009) - Hana Mining Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:HMG)(FRANKFURT:4LH) is pleased to report the results of new copper-silver mineralization at its sediment-hosted Ghanzi Copper-Silver Project in Botswana. Four cyclone-percussion holes were drilled along two fences of holes, spaced 2 kilometers apart on the south limb of the Banana Zone. Two of these holes, HA-50-P and HA-54-P, intersected copper-silver mineralization and represent another new mineralized area.

Details of the results for the new holes are as follows:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zone Hole Number From To Core Length Cu Ag
(m) (m) (m) (%) (g/t)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Banana HA-54-P 75.0 93.0 18.0 2.32 35.1
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
including 78.0 93.0 15.0 2.69 41.0
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
and 87.0 93.0 6.0 3.33 52.2
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Banana HA-50-P 90.0 99.0 9.0 1.05 11.3
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
including 96.0 99.0 3.0 1.70 17.7
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Intercepts reported are intersection length and are estimated to be 60% or more of true width.

Drill sections and a 3D model can be viewed at the following web address [ http://www.corebox.net/properties/ghanzi/ ], or by following a link on the Company's website at [ www.hanamining.com ].

Eight other percussion holes tested low order copper-in-soil geochemical anomalies south of the Banana Zone and only geochemically anomalous values were obtained.

These holes were from two of four percussion fences designed to test the projected mineralized horizon along the south limb of the anticline at the Banana Zone. The fences are spaced at 2 kilometer intervals and test a strike length of 6 kilometers in an area where there was no previous work. Holes HA-48-P, HA-49-P and HA-50-P were drilled on the same fence at 50 meter spacing. The first two scout holes intersected reduced hanging wall sediments and failed to intersect the mineralized horizon above the footwall. Hole HA-54-P was one of three holes drilled along the next fence 2 kilometers south. The first two holes in this fence intersected unmineralized footwall sediments and were not submitted for analysis. Mineralization at both holes is open down dip as well as along strike. These results are taken only as an indication of the presence of mineralization and further drill testing is required.

Results are pending for other percussion holes drilled along two fences 2 kilometers and 4 kilometers southwest of hole HA-54-P, respectively. Holes in both fences reported visible copper sulphide mineralization. This mineralization has now been identified at several areas along a 12 kilometer strike length on the south limb of the Banana Zone. The remaining 18 kilometer strike length along the south limb to the southwest is untested. A favourable aeromagnetic signature and coincident high order copper-in-soil anomalies characterize this area.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control

A 35-40 kilogram sample is collected from the cyclone discharge at 1 meter intervals. The sample is then split 75/25; 75% of the sample is archived and the other 25% provides material for analysis. Three meter composite samples from 3 successive intervals are collected from the split of each 1 meter interval. The composited sample is submitted for analysis and the 75%-split is reserved for more detailed 1 meter follow-up sampling and analysis of mineralized intervals. All samples are double bagged, sealed and transported in secured wooden crates and shipped to Scientific Services Laboratory in Cape Town, South Africa.
