Malaysian finance ministry warns against 'false' e-wallet subsidy scheme posts

Malaysia's finance ministry has warned the public to be wary of fraudulent social media posts claiming the government is handing out a 300 ringgit ($70 USD) cash aid via e-wallets. The Facebook posts share external links to phishing sites asking users for private information, including national identification and phone numbers. Genuine government subsidies are disbursed to eligible participants' identity cards or bank accounts.
The Malaysian Finance Ministry has issued a warning to the public regarding a fraudulent scheme involving a fake investment platform named "Finance Ministry Investment." The ministry clarified that it has no association with this platform and emphasized that it does not offer any investment products. The public is urged to be cautious and verify the authenticity of investment opportunities, as the scammers behind this scheme are using the ministry's name to deceive people into investing in non-existent financial products.
