When: Lampeter-Strasburg school board finance committee meeting, Feb. 10. What happened: Administrators are predicting the district will have a $1.2-million surplus for the 2024-25 school year, Amanda Allison, assistant business manager, told the board.
The Lampeter-Strasburg School District is projected to end the current fiscal year with a $1.2 million surplus, largely due to savings from unfilled staff positions and lower-than-expected health insurance costs. This financial cushion allows the district to consider future investments in educational programs and infrastructure without immediate financial strain. However, the district plans to use some of these funds to address upcoming expenses, including a significant increase in special education costs and potential capital projects.
