  • JPMorgan Chase's investment banking fees have grown by a mid-teens percentage so far in the first quarter as clients' economic optimism grows, Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Piepszak said on Tuesday.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. anticipates a significant recovery in its investment banking fees, projecting a mid-teens percentage increase for the first quarter of 2025, following a challenging period marked by a slump in dealmaking. This optimistic outlook is based on expectations of a rebound in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), equity capital markets, and debt capital markets activities. The bank's CEO, Jamie Dimon, highlighted that despite current economic uncertainties, including high interest rates and geopolitical tensions, there are signs of stabilization and potential growth in these sectors. This growth projection comes after a year where global M&A volumes dropped by 17% to $2.7 trillion, and equity capital markets saw a 33% decline in proceeds from initial public offerings (IPOs).
