  • Hyatt Hotels will buy Playa Hotels & Resorts for about $2.6 billion including debt, net of cash, the company said on Monday, seeking to expand its presence in Mexico and the Caribbean.

Hyatt Hotels Corp has agreed to acquire Playa Hotels & Resorts NV for approximately $2.6 billion, including debt, as announced on February 10, 2025. This acquisition will expand Hyatt's portfolio by adding 26 all-inclusive luxury resorts across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America, enhancing its presence in the fast-growing all-inclusive market. The deal, which is expected to close in mid-2025, will be financed through a combination of cash, stock, and new debt. Playa shareholders will receive $9.07 per share, a 28% premium over the stock's closing price on the previous Friday. This move is part of Hyatt's strategy to cater to the increasing demand for all-inclusive vacation experiences, particularly among affluent travelers.
