Haoxiang Zhu, director of the SEC's Division of Trading and Markets, will leave the agency Dec. 10, the agency announced. David Saltiel, a deputy director who also leads the Division's Office of Analytics and Research, will serve as acting director, the SEC said in a Dec. 9 news release.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced the departure of Haoxiang Zhu, who served as the director of the Division of Trading and Markets. Zhu, who joined the SEC in July 2021, was instrumental in implementing several key regulations including the modernization of equity market structure, enhancing transparency in fixed income markets, and improving the resilience of the U.S. Treasury market. His leadership also focused on addressing conflicts of interest in the financial sector, promoting fair competition, and protecting investors. Zhu's exit was noted in a statement by SEC Chair Gary Gensler, who praised Zhu's contributions to the agency's mission. The SEC has not yet announced Zhu's successor.
