Volkswagen's finance chief said on Thursday its labour force would need to shrink if its German factories did not become more efficient and that the group's dividends would fall in line with earnings.
Volkswagen's Chief Financial Officer, Arno Antlitz, emphasized the need for increased efficiency at the company's German sites during a staff meeting on December 5, 2024. He highlighted that while VW has made strides in reducing costs, further improvements are necessary to ensure the company's competitiveness, especially in light of the ongoing transition to electric vehicles. Antlitz mentioned that the company's German plants, which are crucial for its operations, must adapt to new production methods and technologies to stay ahead in the market. He also noted that VW is committed to doing its part in enhancing efficiency, but stressed that collective efforts from all employees are required to meet these goals.
