This decision was made after it was discovered that the NRIC numbers were visible in search results, potentially compromising the privacy of individuals. The government has issued an apology for the oversight, acknowledging the breach as a significant lapse in data protection. ACRA is now working to enhance its security measures to prevent future incidents, and has urged affected individuals to monitor their personal information closely for any signs of misuse. Additionally, the government has committed to reviewing and strengthening data protection policies across all public sector digital services.
