  • Indonesia's Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry on Tuesday launched auctions for six oil and gas blocks, taking the total number of blocks offered this year to 11, it said in a statement.

Indonesia has launched its second oil and gas auction of 2024, offering six blocks for exploration and development to boost its domestic energy production. The blocks include two in the North Sumatra Basin, one in the West Natuna Basin, one in the East Natuna Basin, and two in the Andaman Sea. This auction is part of Indonesia's strategy to increase its oil and gas reserves, which have been declining, and to attract more foreign investment into its energy sector. The government aims to leverage these auctions to enhance energy security and reduce reliance on imports, amidst global energy market fluctuations. The bidding process is designed to be transparent and competitive, with detailed geological data provided to potential investors to encourage participation.
