HARTFORD, Conn., April 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- To help employers contend with risks posed by employees' online activities and social media networking, XL Group's Private Commercial insurance business has added Wrongful Internet Usage Protection to its [ Employment Practices Liability coverage ] as part of its Management Liability package.   

"One defamatory email by an employee to even a small group of colleagues can impose considerable liability upon a company.  We can also add employees' use of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to a growing list of Internet risks that employers must manage," explained Bruce Simmons , Vice President and Product Manager in XL Group's Private Commercial unit.   "In fact, with one click of a mouse, the Internet, especially the growing number of social media networks at work, poses a multitude of employment practices risks that employers cannot afford to ignore."
