First 2,500 residents to sign up save 15% without any change to existing electric service

AKRON, Ohio, June 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Residential electric customers of ComEd can now sign up with FirstEnergy Solutions to receive a guaranteed 15% discount off ComEd's electric generation rate until September 2013 through the PercentPromise program.

"Shopping for an electric generation supplier is one of the easiest ways to save money," said Dave Hennekes, vice president of Retail Marketing for FirstEnergy Solutions.  "And because you are guaranteed to save 15% off the utility's generation rate, there is no risk – you'll be saving money even when ComEd's rate fluctuates up and down."

FirstEnergy Solutions also provides other savings options to ComEd customers. Residents can take advantage of the low, fixed price of 5.70 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) through June 2014.  Residents interested in an introductory price can sign up with FirstEnergy Solutions to receive 5.55 cents per kWh on electric generation through December 2012, then 5.85 cents per kWh through June 2014.

Residents who choose FirstEnergy Solutions as their electric generation supplier will continue to receive one bill and the same level of service from ComEd, and the utility will continue to deliver the electricity, maintain the poles and wires, and respond to power outages.  More information is available at [ www.pluginillinois.org ] and [ www.power2switch.com ].
