BEIJING, Feb. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Huaneng Power International, Inc. ("HPI", the "Company") (NYSE: [ HNP ]; HKEx:902; SSE:600011) announced today that Huaneng Yunnan Chuxiong Natural Gas Co-generation New Construction Project (the "Project") (which is wholly owned by the Company) was recently approved by the Development and Reform Commission of the Yunnan Province.

The Project will build 2 x 300 MW class combined cycle gas turbine cogeneration units. The total investment amount of the Project is estimated to be approximately RMB2.656 billion, of which 20% will be project capital to be funded by the Company. The remaining investment is to be funded by bank loans.
