The Taiwan Fund, Inc. Announces Permanent Management Arrangements

NEW YORK, Dec. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Taiwan Fund, Inc. (the "Fund") (NYSE: [ TWN ]) announces that the Board of Directors has appointed Martin Currie Inc. ("Martin Currie") and APS Asset Management Pte Ltd. ("APS") as the investment advisor and sub-advisor of the Fund subject to stockholder approval. 

In connection with the appointment, the Board will approve a new investment management agreement with Martin Currie and a new sub-advisory agreement with APS and recommend that the stockholders approve such agreements.  The proposal to approve a new investment management agreement with Martin Currie and a new sub-advisory agreement with APS will be submitted to stockholders at the annual stockholders meeting.  The Board expects to set the date of the annual stockholders meeting shortly and anticipates that the meeting will be held in February 2012. 

The Fund is a diversified closed-end investment company, which seeks long term capital appreciation primarily through investments in equity securities listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.  Shares of the Fund are listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "TWN."
