Energy Conservation Kits Now Available to Maryland Customers of Potomac Edison
WILLIAMSPORT, Md., Oct. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Potomac Edison, a FirstEnergy (NYSE: [ FE ]) company, will begin promoting Energy Conservation Kits and educational materials to its Maryland residential customers as part of the company's programs to meet Maryland energy efficiency requirements through the state's EmPower Maryland program.
Potomac Edison customers in Maryland can call (888) 257-2474 or visit [ www.myconservationkit.com ] to request the Energy Conservation Kit, which contains six compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), one smart strip and other useful components.
Customers will need their Potomac Edison account number to place their order. The cost of these kits, along with the costs of all energy efficiency programs, are recovered through residential rates in accordance with EmPower Maryland. No additional costs or handling fees will be charged to customers who decide to request the kits.

CFLs use up to 75 percent less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and can last up to 10 times longer, which saves customers up to $40 over the life of the bulb, according to the U.S. government's Energy Star® program.
