AKRON, Ohio, July 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- James E. Graf of Fairmont, W.Va., has been named director, Harrison Power Station, for FirstEnergy Generation Corp., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE).  The 1,984-megawatt generating facility is located in Haywood, W.Va.

Graf was named interim director at Harrison Power Station following the merger of FirstEnergy Corp. and Allegheny Energy earlier this year.  His title became permanent effective July 25, 2011.  Graf began working at the Harrison Power Station in 2003 as an Operations technician.  He was later named outage supervisor, and he was promoted to manager, Maintenance, in 2009, and manager, Operations, in April 2011.

"With his strong background in power plant maintenance and operations, combined with the management skills he exhibited after being named interim plant director, Jim was the best choice to run the Harrison Power Station," said Charles Lasky, vice president, Fossil Fleet Operations, FirstEnergy Generation Corp.  "Under Jim's leadership, Harrison Power Station employees will continue delivering safe and reliable electric generation to FirstEnergy customers."

Prior to joining the company, Graf was the owner of River Run L.L.C., a Fairmont, W.Va.-based electrical/HVAC contractor.  He also has worked as an electrical contractor foreman for Ermco Electric in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., and GES Exposition Services in Orlando.  In addition, Graf served in the United States Army.

FirstEnergy is a diversified energy company dedicated to safety, reliability and operational excellence. Its 10 electric distribution companies comprise the nation's largest investor-owned electric system.  Its diverse generating fleet features non-emitting nuclear, scrubbed baseload coal, natural gas, and pumped-storage hydro and other renewables, and has a total generating capacity of approximately 24,000 megawatts.
