BENSALEM, Pa.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Law Offices of Howard G. Smith announces that it is investigating potential claims against the board of directors of AmeriCredit Corp. (aAmeriCredita or the aCompanya) (NYSE:ACF) related to the Companya™s agreement to be acquired by General Motors. The proposed all-cash transaction is valued at approximately $3.5 billion.

Under the terms of the definitive agreement entered into by the parties, at the close of the transaction AmeriCredit shareholders will receive $24.50 in cash for each share of AmeriCredit stock they hold as of the transaction closing date. The Companya™s stock traded as high as $26.49 per share as recently as April 15, 2010. The proposed transaction is expected to close by the end of the fourth quarter of 2010. The investigation concerns possible breaches of fiduciary duty and other violations of law related to approval of the proposed transaction by AmeriCredita™s board of directors.
