Con Edison: Cash Rebates Still Available for Energy Star A/Cs

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - June 16, 2010) - Over 3,000 New York City and Westchester County residents are pocketing $30 rebates from Con Edison for purchasing Energy Star room air conditioners, as part of the company's wide variety of energy-savings programs now available for home and business owners ([ www.conEd.com/energyefficiency ]).

With summer heat approaching, Con Edison reminds customers that $30 rebates are still available for customers who invest in cost-cutting Energy Star-rated room air conditioners. Con Edison also continues to offer a host of energy-savings for homes and businesses of all sizes.

Energy-Savings Programs

Customers can enroll in a variety of energy savings programs:

For Homeowners (one- to four- family homes)

  • Rebates from $200 to $600 for installing eligible energy-efficient heating and air conditioning equipment.
  • Free programmable thermostats for central air-conditioning systems.
  • Rebates for new Energy Star room air conditioners.

For Apartments, Condos, or Co-ops (5 to 50 units)

  • Free surveys to evaluate building common areas and individual units for lighting, cooling- and heating-efficiency improvements, and incentives for these improvements.
  • Incentives for new Energy Star refrigerators and air conditioners, and free recycling of old, inefficient refrigerators and air conditioners.

For Small Businesses

  • Free energy surveys
  • Free upgrades such as CFLs and water-heater thermostats
  • Big incentives up to 70 percent for major lighting, heating, and cooling upgrades
  • Free programmable thermostats for central air-conditioning systems ($300 value)

For Large Commercial and Industrial Customers

  • Partial funding for energy study
  • Rebates and performance-based incentives for high-efficiency equipment
