VAL-D'OR, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Feb. 25, 2009) - Cartier Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:ECR) ("Cartier") is pleased to announce that it is launching a 5,000-meter diamond drill program for 2009.

Phase I drilling will be conducted from March to May 2009, on its wholly-owned properties; Dieppe-Collet, La Pause and Kinojevis.

Dieppe-Collet Property: 20 km south of Casa-Berardi Mine

Two drill holes will test a major 200-meter wide shear zone (sericite altered, pyritic and gold anomalous) whose gold potential has been highlighted by previous exploration. Geophysical anomalies (IP and Digem) signature the shear zone. As well, several reverse circulation drill holes yielded gold in basal till anomalies (from 0.5 g/t Au to 3.04 g/t Au) and in basal gravels (up to 10.7 g/t Au).

La Pause Property:

Two drill holes will test the La Pause Fault Zone which straddles the volcanic-sediment contact; the latter is intruded with numerous felsic to intermediate dykes. The holes target geophysical anomalies within the fault zone. The La Pause property is located less than one kilometer from Mouska Mine (0.8 M oz Au).

Kinojevis Property:

Two areas will be drill tested.

The first area is the extension of the gold mineralization intersected in hole KI-07-05 (2.26 g/t Au over 1.5 m and 4.70 g/t Au over 0.7 m). The gold zones are associated with a 12-meter wide alteration zone less than twenty meters north of the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone.

The second area is located along the eastern extension of the Landome deposit (251,304 tons at 2.5% Cu and 2.0% Zn) situated immediately east of the property and south of the village of St-Marc. The mineralized and altered horizons are associated with a group of geophysical anomalies (airborne EM) and strike westward onto the Kinojevis property into a non-explored area. This area also corresponds to the eastern extension of the Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone.

Phase II drilling will be conducted from September to November 2009 on the Kinojevis property and will focus on the 2008 diamond drill gold discoveries in the MacCormack area.

Seven drill holes intersected the large North Dyke gold system over 800 meters, significant values include: 0.34 g/t Au over 67.0 m (KI-08-23), 0.67 g/t Au over 19.0 m; including 7.27 g/t Au over 1.0 m (KI-08-29). The South Dyke system returned 0.33 g/t Au over 29.0 m including a higher grade intersection of 2.37 g/t Au over 1.4 m (KI-08-34) and 1.1 g/t Au over 4.6 m (KI-07-03). The drill holes will test lateral and depth extensions of the gold mineralized systems.

Cartier could modify its program based on the results.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control

The exploration program is conducted under the supervision of Mr. Philippe Berthelot, P. Geo., qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Cartier has implemented and adheres to a strict Quality Assurance/Quality Control program which includes mineralized standards and blanks for each batch of samples. Analyses are either performed by Techni-lab S.G.B. Abitibi inc. in Sainte-Germaine, Quebec, or by ALS-Chemex in Val-d'Or, Quebec, both accredited laboratories.
