PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwire - January 27, 2009) - Simkar Lighting ([ www.simkar.com ]), a producer of Commercial/Industrial Lighting fixtures is proud to announce the inclusion of daylight sensing to their "Green" initiative line of fluorescent fixtures by offering the Axis Technologies, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: [ AXTG ]) dimming/daylight harvesting ballasts as an option in their fixture line as well as a retrofit kit that will include a daylight harvesting ballast and sockets.

Installation of a daylight harvesting system can save as much as 400 kWh per fixture annually which equates to a reduction of 700 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. Some programs offer rebates of up to 100% of the cost of systems incorporating daylight harvesting.

"The inclusion of Daylight sensing systems by AXIS Technologies to Simkar's high performance, energy efficient product line is a logical decision considering ease of installation and superior performance compared to other products currently on the market," says Ken Bopf, Vice President of Sales. "The ability to set dimming levels and individual fixture operation allows Simkar fixtures with the Axis Ballast to meet the switching requirements in certain electrical codes and rebate programs."

The patented Axis Daylight sensing system can save up to 70% by sensing ambient light levels and adjusting each fixture accordingly. Maximum light levels are set by a series of dip switches that are simple to adjust and maintain. Each fixture is operated by its own sensor, providing more consistent light levels compared to systems that operate a large quantity of fixtures from a single photocell, making installation more economical.

Simkar fixtures with the Axis Technologies ballasts pre-installed are available in 1 - 4 lamp F32 T8 models for 120V and 277V applications and expect to offer T5 models later in 2009.

About Simkar Lighting

SIMKAR Corporation ([ www.simkar.com ]), founded in 1952, is a U.S.-based manufacturer of linear and compact fluorescent, exit and emergency, HID and vandal resistant lighting fixtures for commercial, industrial and residential applications.

About the Axis Technologies Ballast

Axis Technologies Group, Inc. ([ www.axistechnologyinc.com ]) has developed an innovative new ballast, an electronic component that regulates voltage in fluorescent lighting that focuses on expanding daylight harvesting into mainstream fluorescent lighting applications. The patented Axis Dimming/Daylight Harvesting Ballast is a new technology that transforms the ballast, a once standard lighting industry staple, into a dynamic energy-saving system that can reduce lighting energy costs by up to 70%. The Axis DDH Ballast utilizes an individual photo sensor to automatically adjust the amount of electrical current flowing to the light fixture, and then dims or increases lighting in conjunction with the amount of available sunlight that may be harvested from available windows and sunlight. The Axis DDH Ballast avoids "over-lit" conditions that increase energy costs by keeping lighting "tuned" to the desired level in a designated area.
