Two Japanese men were killed in Dalian, a city in northeastern China, and a suspect has been detained, Kyodo News reported on Tuesday, citing the Japanese embassy in China. Chinese police notified the Japanese consulate in Shenyang on May 25 about the killings, saying they resulted from a business dispute between acquaintances, the report said.

Two Japanese nationals were killed and another injured in a stabbing attack at a bus stop in Suzhou, China, on June 25, 2024. The assailant, a 52-year-old man with the surname Zhou, was apprehended by the police shortly after the attack. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. local time, and the victims were employees of a local Japanese trading company. The attack has raised concerns about the safety of foreigners in China, and the Japanese government is providing support to the victims' families while urging its citizens in China to be cautious.
