Upbit operator Dunamu files lawsuit to overturn business sanctions

Upbit files lawsuit to challenge the three-month ban on new customer transactions after South Korea's top finance watchdog finds gaps in the exchange's KYC system.
The operator of the South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, Dunamu, is facing a lawsuit from a former employee who claims he was wrongfully dismissed after reporting illegal activities within the company. The plaintiff alleges that Dunamu engaged in unethical practices, including manipulating trading volumes and engaging in wash trading. In response, Dunamu has denied these allegations and stated that the former employee was terminated for violating company policies. Additionally, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) of South Korea has imposed a business suspension on Dunamu for three months, starting from January 10, 2023, due to deficiencies in their anti-money laundering and know-your-customer procedures. This regulatory action has led to increased scrutiny of Dunamu's operations and raised concerns about the overall integrity of the cryptocurrency market in South Korea.
