The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that it will issue new banknotes of Rs 100 and Rs 200 denominations featuring the signature of the current Governor, Shaktikanta Das. These notes will bear the year of printing as 2023 and will be circulated alongside the existing notes of the same denominations but with the signatures of previous governors. The design elements, including the inset letter 'R', the number panel, and the color scheme, will remain unchanged. The RBI has assured that all banknotes with the signatures of former governors will continue to be legal tender. This move is part of routine updates to the currency, ensuring that the public can easily recognize and trust the authenticity of the notes.
