Sitharaman reaffirms push for regulatory reforms, trust-based governance to boost businesses, economy

Speaking at the CII Annual Business Summit 2023, she highlighted the government's commitment to simplifying regulations and reducing compliance burdens, which she believes will foster a more conducive environment for businesses. Sitharaman stressed that trust-based governance would not only encourage entrepreneurship but also ensure that regulatory frameworks are more adaptive and less intrusive, thereby promoting economic activities and attracting investments. She also mentioned ongoing efforts to decriminalize minor economic offenses, aiming to shift the focus from penalizing to facilitating business operations.
