Orlen and Equinor agree to develop carbon capture projects

Polish refiner Orlen and Norway's Equinor signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.
Polish oil and gas company Orlen and Norwegian energy firm Equinor have signed a letter of intent to jointly develop carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects, aiming to start operations by 2025. This collaboration will focus on capturing CO2 emissions from Orlen's facilities in Poland and storing them in Equinor's offshore storage sites in the North Sea. The partnership is part of a broader strategy to reduce carbon footprints and meet climate goals, with both companies exploring further opportunities for cooperation in energy transition technologies. The agreement was announced on March 3, 2025, highlighting the urgency of implementing CCS to combat climate change.
